Peultjes, known in English as snow peas or Chinese peas, are referred to in China as “Dutch peas”
(驨兰) This change in name reflects the migration of this pea from southwest China to the Netherlands, and then back to Taiwan and the southern coastal regions of China. We used this pea as an ingredient to make soup, while incorporating collective drawing to visualize the pea’s journey.
A white fabric served as our cutting board, allowing the pea’s juice to naturally tell its story through its stains and traces.
