Every Friday, a different community-focused organization/artist(s) takes over our café from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
We call these Fridays Cafélokaal. The bar is open, there's something fun to do, see, or make, and everyone is welcome to drop in, even if you just want a coffee. Admission is always free.
Spotlight and Breda Solidair join forces and transform Cafélokaal into Breda's warm, intercultural living room once a month. With delicious food, (Arabic) music, dance, workshops, and food, they seek both connection and resistance. In December, they're even hosting two editions, on December 5 and 26.
Spotlight Team International Art is an independent cultural organization based in Breda, the Netherlands, working at the intersection of arts and human rights. They use creativity as a tool for empowerment, cultural connection, and building safe community spaces for expression and dialogue.
They are active in The Netherlands, Gaza (Palestine), Syria, and other parts of the diaspora and focus on supporting minorities, refugees, stateless individuals, and young artists through projects such as: Art Tents – Carrier Pigeons – Aura – Zolf, alongside community programs and creative dialogues.

THE ANTI-WINTER DEPRESSION CRAFTING SESSION (12/12/2025)
by Sofieke Haarhuis
It's cold! It's dark! It's time to combat the winter blues with a good dose of crafting. Because, what's better for our minds than working with our hands? Everyone is welcome to join us, so come on by! Materials will be provided, and there will be a fun craft project. You can take your creations home with you to brighten up your space during these colder times (or as a fun project for someone else) <3.
Sofieke is an art teacher in training. She came up with the idea for the anti-winter depression craft session as a way to get out of her head during the winter months. She prefers to do this together with others!

LA GRAZIERIA - POP-UP NOSTALGIA HAIR SALON (19/12/2025)
by Grazia Gallo
La Grazieria is a social art project by Grazia Gallo. The hairdresser-artist sees the hair salon as a place where encounters, memories, and care come together.
During Cafélokaal, La Grazieria – Pop-up Nostalgia will appear as a temporary salon in Clublokaal one Friday a month. Visitors are invited to get a haircut, share a story, or simply be present in a calm, open atmosphere. The hairdresser's chair becomes a place of exchange, while the waiting area offers space for writing, drawing, and sharing memories of hair and home.
A haircut costs €20, and the service is limited to four people per day. Haircut times: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
Don't want a haircut but still want to come? Or haven't booked but curious if there's still a spot available? Just come on in!
Grazia Gallo is a visual artist, hairdresser, and researcher. Her work revolves around themes such as home in relation to migration, nostalgia, working-class identity, and social housing architecture. By creating environments with found objects, textiles, ceramics, and other materials, she invites viewers to enter spaces where her personal jewelry serves as portals to imagine and build new worlds.

STORY AND STORYTELLING THEATRE (02/01/2025)
by Stichting Tientjes
Stichting Tientjes
In 2009, Tientjes was founded by three mothers who were dependant of food banks and welfare programs who wanted to share their talents with the world, despite their challenging (financial) circumstances. They wanted to make things possible, also for people in similar situations. Within Tientjes, people who joined helped each other and utilized each other's talents. It began as a small, close-knit group operating from a living room and quickly grew into an organization active throughout the city, with a physical meeting place (the Rondeel) in Breda's city center. Since June 2024, activities at the Rondeel have been discontinued and continued at various other locations in Breda. For example, "Eet & Ontmoet" (Eat & Meet) now takes place every second and fourth Monday of the month at the Mondiaal Centrum Breda. And the Drawing Club has found a home at the Annahuis. Afterwards, there will be a cozy get-together until 6 pm. On January 2nd, this will be a New Year's reception to celebrate the new year together.
